Moving…again.

Today is the last day of our stay at my mom’s house. We are moving to an apartment for the next two months, which should be an adventure. I remember apartment living back in my bachelor days, and I can say that this place is far…far…far…better than the roach motel that I lived in. This is a pretty nice joint. The insurance company is footing the bill, which is nice, and its close to town. It has been alot of fun living with family, though. You’ve always got somebody to talk to when you’re bored and there’s always enough people to play board games that require 4 or more players. And my mom and stepdad are really excellent cooks, so the food has been great.

I really miss living in our house, though. I really hope that construction is finished soon (they are saying two months) and the insurance company moves a whole lot faster than they are right now at getting us money to buy back all our stuff. The house should look like a whole new house when we get back, with a  new roof, new deck,  new fence and several rooms with new paint and carpet. Also, those large trees (the ones that fell on our house) are gone, which will really make the place look different.

I’m praying that everything goes smoothly. God has really taken care of us through all this. People put their trust in their insurance company, but before we ever received a dime from insurance, we had needs that needed to be taken care of. God sent  help immediately, through family , friends, coworkers…even strangers. He is so good and it’s humbling when I stop and realize that I don’t deserve any of it.

Anyway, that’s the update on Frank’s life for the time being, for anyone that cares enough to check out my blog.

Tornado!

On April 27th, 2011, my house was destroyed by the deadly tornadoes that ravaged Alabama. I haven’t been able to draw much since then, really. My life and my wife’s life have been turned upside down. Perhaps when we are able to return to normalcy, I wil post new material.

Tank Spurgeon!

Tank!

This was a doodle from my sketchbook that I inked and colored in Photoshop. I tend to ink pretty much everything I sketch, for some reason. I guess I just think it looks unfinished unless it’s been inked.  I’m a Charles Spurgeon fan, the man known as ‘The Prince of  Preachers’. I went through a period where I was interested in Calvinism and I started reading up on it a bit, and learned that Spurgeon was indeed a Calvinist. I still lean towards Calvinism a bit, but I’m also to a point where I don’t know if you can ever really know the truth about Predestination and all that, but I digress. Anyway, I just thought it’d be cool to draw him as this huge, Hulk-like figure and all.

So, after this sketch was done, I moved on to draw a full page cover of a fake ‘Tank Spurgeon’ comic book. The concept is very similar to another fake comic cover I drew a while back. I drew Tank declaring to the demons of Hell that no matter what tactics may be used, God’s Word will never cease to be. The quote is an actual Spurgeon quote.

I drew both pieces with Micron pens on bristol board and colored using Photoshop. Lettering was done in Illustrator.

I will be posting more Desk Zombie templates soon, so keep your shirt on. Geez.

Blank Desk Zombie Template

Arghh! Zombies!

Agh! Zombies!

Finally, after a long, long hiatus (burnout), I have started drawing again. This is probably gonna be just like anything else I start, though, and due to my Turbo ADD, I’ll forget to  update it regularly and it will be just another abandoned car on the side of the information superhighway.

But anyway, the first post will be my zombie papertoys. I’m a huge zombie fan, so I created these little papertoys of the walking dead to enhance the looks of my office desk. I drew them using Adobe Illustrator. Then print ‘em on cardstock, cut ‘em out, and glue them together with school glue. They’re about six inches tall.
